Seattle down Lisbon at beach soccer World Cup

The Seattle Sounders stormed to a 4-0 win over Sporting Lisbon at the Beach Soccer Club World Cup in Sao Paulo on Monday.

The win gave the American side their first points of the competition and helped them jump above their Portuguese opponents in Group A. Seattle broke the deadlock with 10 minutes left in the first period when Osmar Moreira found the net after the ball had gone from keeper to goal without touching the sand. They doubled their lead in the second period – Francisco Cati found himself unmarked from a corner to drill home. And soon it was 3-0 from another corner when Cati made a quick run at the near post to head home and double his tally. Sporting were quickly coming undone by set pieces and went 4-0 down when Moreira got his second from a free kick. Both teams had a man sent off late on as Seattle held on to get off the mark.
